September SUYS DT layout ..

Welcome to September! .. This year is just flying by way to fast! ..
This month we are using this super easy sketch, designed by Krisy, along with mixed media in our DT layouts. Not that mixed media is much of a challenge for me.
Also don't forget to include your handmade item!

The winner of the challenge for September will receive an awesome prize pack from DT member Krisy!

Krisy shares her art under the name Popleopod. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram.

Here is my contribution, it started with some gesso on the background, then I added some gorgeous minty thick washi tape and flowed some jade acrylic paint in swirls on the background. Added some chevron acetate and lots of goodies from my real/mint stash.

I then layers plenty of resin craft embellishments from The Resin Rainbow in teal to make the picture pop. Don't ever be afraid of mixing your colours, sure they were not all the exact same colour, but they are all part of he green colour family so they all blend in beautifully!

White.. With 1 August challenge - magenta purple

I will start by saying I'm not a fan of purple at all. Too dark for me. I'm all about the bright colour's, lots of layers and plenty of texture! .. 2 out of 3 on this layout was there!

So to rid myself of the darkness, I rolled on a layer of burgandy paint mixed with gesso, then i toned it down with plenty of white paint mixed with golden gel mediums 'glass bead gel' mixed into it. It came out a messy, grundy, bumpy mess.

Then it was time for some tyre track circles using big circular hand sweeps on the page & Flutterby Designs black acrylic paint and i have added plenty of layers using bits from my stash and my store - The Resin Rainbow.

SUYS July Challenge - blue / winter

This month at SUYS took me a long way out of my comfort zone!  .. I don't work with Blue on a big scale like this - ever!  so this one had a me little bit stumped until I figured out i could make it my own!

So this was the challenge this month!

and this was what I came up with!  .. certainly no snow or cold weather when we took this picture of us all in the pool in Malaysia earlier this year!  - hence the title 'no snow here'.

White .. with 1 July Challenge - Island Paradise

Hello Everyone

Welcome to July!  .. how did that happen so fast ??

I absolutely love the colour for this month 'Island Paradise' it makes me think of sunshine, water, swimming and all things summer. It sure doesnt feel like summer right now in Brisbane Qld Australia with a high of 16deg! ..

The pics are of my youngest on a recent family holiday to somewhere very warm (Penang, Malaysia). He became a steam pork bun addict in no time at all and even figured out how to say it in Malaysian so that the sellers at the macaan stalls would give him an extra one for free!

Show Us Your Stuff June Challenge

Hi Everyone

The challenge this month at Show Us Your Stuff was all about using up abandoned supplies. It was one that I figured ALOT of people would be able to do simple because - lets face it, we all have supplies that we have moved on from or we purchased on a whim or just because. So with that idea in mind, and me being a tiny bit of a hoarder it was time to make the most of the opportunity!

So the idea is to use at least 1 abandoned/no longer loved supply and incorporate it into this sketch!

The sketch this month was sponsored by my own store The Resin Rainbow with a gift certificate valued at $10 for a lucky scrapper!

My entry was a full of colour variety that featured a few abandoned supplies as well as some awesome resin embellishments!  .. I had some creative fun with this one and layered the background with TH lime green mixed with gesso, then I used a dot mask and poured a steady stream of white in curves all over the top - very ala Anita Rodway!

The abandoned items I used was the white embroidery floss and the lime green flag. It turns out I dont have that many abandoned supplies, because i have such a small space I dont tend to hoard as much as I thought - except paint, and resin and moulds ..

Handmade embellishments: Lime green flag from Rainbow Splendour,
Resin dots, black Daisy, clear stars and resin roses all from The Resin Rainbow
Yum-o flair is actually a badge from Wendy's - repurposed (finally!), it has been in my stash for at least 5 years.

So now that you have seen mine, follow this link for all the rest of the details and to see what the rest of the incredibly DT have done with the same challenge!

Happy Scrapping!
